The mind is an emerging product of the brain and this is a necessary but not sufficient condition for there to be mental functions and products. The mind would result from a subjective experience originated in brain activity, for the purpose of structure and organization of behavior (knowledge of oneself and the environment).

It follows that the mind, intelligence, executive control, is the result of: - A cognitive development on the brain structure. - Learning about interacting contexts. Cognitive development is based on higher mental functions (attention, perception, memory, judgment, reasoning, ...), with levels of precision or operability in problem solving, information processing, creativity, etc.

In a logic of action and cognitive development, it is of interest to highlight that, from a neuropsychological analysis, intelligence does not have to be a property that exclusively emerges from the brain, but rather it can be a function located in the lateral prefrontal cortex. (Desimone and Duncan, 1995), within studies with people injured in this area and showing limitations in their planning and executive control.
