Abstract

The Cardiovascular Revolution extended the life of the population by an average of ten to fifteen years. With slight delay, the same development occurred in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Based on studies, diabetes was found to be a risk factor for malignancies, which increase in number from a certain age. The development in the Czech Republic is a typical example.

Cardiovascular mortality is declining and malignancy deaths are increasing. The data provided in the article indicate a change in the care of patients with diabetes. Many tumours are detectable in their early stages and most patients go to diabetology regularly, it would be desirable to include an oncology check-up for routine examinations.
