Abstract

Hemangiomas are benign vascular tumors belonging to the group of vsaculars anomalies. Infantile hemangiomas (IH) are the most common skin tumor of childhood occuring in the outpatient practice of every dermatologist and pediatrician.

In most cases, IH is characterized by spontaneous involution. However, there is a group of complicated (alarming) IH, for wich early diagnosis and therapy is necessary due to impending complications.

The most effective treatment for these complicated lesions is systemic therapy with beta-blockers, with must be administered during hospitalization due to the need opf monitoring the patient. An important part of the whole process is correct education of the childś parents, discussing all treatment options and an individual approach.
