Publication at Faculty of Education |
2021

Abstract

The specifics of the education of visually impaired pupils with a possible concurrence of disabilities are evident. In the Czech educational system, they have historically been taken into account for a long time by the professional work of special pedagogues and other helping professions.

An unconventional form of distance education has brought an uncharted phenome- non to the field of special pedagogical practice, which can expand the possibilities of supporting visually impaired pupils. The aim of the presented text is to find and describe the specifics of distance learning for visually impaired students.

Subsequent comparison with outputs from re- gular schools, which were mapped by the Czech School Inspection, then verify and define the specificity for a given group of students. The research was carried out at the Primary School for Pupils with Visual Impairments in Prague 2 (ZRAK Primary School).

The article presents the experience of all participants in education in the second half of the school year 2019/2020 in this school. On-line questionnaire surveys of parents and teachers and semi-structured interviews with pupils of the second grade of ZRAK primary school and special pedagogues of the Special Pedagogical Center for Pupils with Visual Impairments were used as research tools.
