Acute complications of anticancer treatment, or, Oncological child in PLDD surgery

Abstract

Anticancer treatment has a non-selective effect and always damages healthy tissues to varying degrees. Serious treatment complications occur especially with high-intensity chemotherapy in prognostically unfavorable types of diseases.

The most common are hematological, infectious, gastrointestinal, cardiopulmonary and renal complications. Without modern supportive care, these complications could be fatal in many patients.

All these complications can be encountered by a general practitioner for children and adolescents in his office.
