Abstract
Venous thrombosis or pulmonary embolism is an important cause of morbidity and mortality. Sudden death due to pulmonary embolism may be the first manifestation of asymptomatic venous thrombosis.
From this point it is necessary to focus not only on the treatment but also on the prevention of venous thromboembolism. In the following article, preventive procedures for different specific situations are mentioned, as well as current treatment options for venous thrombosis.
