Abstract

Telerehabilitation, telemedicine, distance therapy (DT) and remote patient monitoring represent the current and future direction of the development of medicine and rehabilitation. It has great potential especially in neurorehabilitation and rehabilitation of chronic patients.

It is not only a modern and complementary medicine solution, but a necessary part of providing health care. The long-term epidemiological situation shows the potential of telemedicine, especially in rehabilitation, as a carrier of active therapy.

Distance therapy, store-and-forward therapy (asynchronous model of telerehabilitation in offline mode) records, archives and subsequently evaluates the obtained data. Telerehabilitation, on the other hand, uses direct interactions between the therapist and the patient in real time through communication technologies.

Telemonitoring (online mode) in the home environment and connection to the monitoring desk supports the provision of subsequent dispensary and specialized patient care.
