The elaborated monograph deals with the possibility of using reading strategies in preschool education as a support for the development of children's understanding of the text that is read to them. The monograph is based on Eva Koželuhová's dissertation on this topic, which has been slightly modified and shortened. The aim of the monograph is to analyse the ways in which kindergarten teachers develop children's comprehension of the read text and to describe the possibilities of how kindergarten teachers can use reading strategies to support children's comprehension during reading.
The monograph includes extensive research, which was carried out as a multi-case study in which eight kindergarten teachers were involved. Through in-depth interviews, repeated observation of the teacher's work with the text and subsequent analysis of video recordings of this work, answers to research questions were sought.
