Changes in the term civitas between antiquity and the late Middle Ages

Abstract

The author traces the development of the meaning of the term civitas and its transformation in Europe of the Latin cultural circle from ancient antiquity to the late Middle Ages and its differences in individual areas of Latin Europe.
