Gregory of Nyssa, "Our Father in Heaven" : De oratione dominica, II

Abstract

In the second homily, Gregory interprets the introductory words of the Lord’s Prayer: “Our Father in heaven” (Matt. 6:9). His exposition consists of four thematic parts:

1. Comparison of the lawgivers Moses and Jesus;

2. Euché (vow) and proseuché (prayer);

3. Ascent to God as Father;

4. Heavenly home.
