Abstract

The specialist article deals with small sculptures that were created in the Baroque era, mostly made to order for private devotion or decoration. Franz Ignaz Platzer, a graduate of the Vienna Academy, became famous for these small sculptures, which they made both from wax and mostly from fruit wood.

The small statuettes did not serve as a model, but were cut on a small scale for perfect refinement for collecting purposes.
