Opinions of the Czech Republic citizens on selected aspects of the activities of general practitioners - 2020

Abstract

Resources. The Czech Medical Society of JEP - the Society of General Practice periodically monitors citizens' opinions on selected aspects of general practitioner's activities.

This publication follows previous outputs of research carried out between the years 2015 and 2019. Aim and methods.

The aim of this research was to identify Czech citizens' opinions on some aspects of the work carried out by general practitioners (GP's). The method of conducted interviews between interviewer and respondent (face-to-face) performed by a professional agency that was chosen with the aim to representatively research the opinions of Czech citizens.

Statistical data was processed by SASD 1.4.15. Results.

In the representative sociological research, 1769 citizens were interviewed. The subjects of the sample were chosen randomly using quota-type selection.

The research results are representative of Czech citizens over the age of 15, with respect to gender, age and region. The citizens are by a vast majority satisfied with the care and time invested in their examination by their GPs (93,6 %) and nurses (94,7 %).

Only a small minority of subjects hold a negative opinion. The number of citizens who expressed the highest degree of satisfaction, significantly increased in the 2018-2020 period. 82,7 % of Czech citizens state that they find e-prescription provided by their GPs fully or mostly satisfactory, that represent significant increased compare to the year 2019 (59,3 %).

Only 10,2 % of respondents state they are somewhat or completely unsatisfactory. Regarding e-sick notes provided by GPs, the majority of Czech citizens (72,1%) were satisfied, but 19,6 % were not satisfied with that form of communication.

The majority of Czech citizens (35,7 %) prefer the combination of the telemedicine and personal doctor examination, the minority (7,9 %) prefer only telemedicine consultation. Just 3,4 % of the GPs practices in the Czech republic were not able to provide healthcare during ongoing global pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Czech citizens (42,8 %) were completely or partially not satisfied with the information about COVID-19 pandemic provided by the oficial institutions.
