Communities for people returning from prison (SR, ČR)

Abstract

After leaving prison, convicts often face negative reactions from society. People often perceive them as criminals, they look at them crookedly and their fate is indifferent to them.

The redundant situation is not relieved by other problems that await them and that they have to deal with. Family and closest friends should be the biggest support at this time.

However, not everyone has a family - someone fell apart due to conviction, someone never had one. Non-governmental or charitable organizations, congregations or councils are trying to help the dismissed with various services.

These forms of assistance and intervention work to prevent recidivism by supporting convicts already in prison, but it is highly desirable that assistance be available even after release from prison. Organizations provide information about the rights and obligations of clients, offer debt counseling or help with finding a job.
