Abstract

This review article for the sociological and social science journal Social Imaginaries aims to introduce the ideas and theories of Professor Johann P. Arnason, it is an introduction to his historical, sociological and political science themes that have overlap with contemporary political and political science issues and topics.

The review article is therefore primarily concerned with the various civilizational features of cultures, which include the civilizational specificities of Great Britain. Professor Arnason has long been concerned with the particular civilizational specificities of different nations and cultures, and his inspiration in this regard is particularly the theorizing of Cornelius Castoriadis, to whom all published issues of Social Imaginaries refer, and from whom this review article is often based.
