Abstract
An international conference discussing Ireland as an interface that enables an intercultural exchange, in contrast with traditional essentialist notions of national identity. The conference focused on contact zones with other cultures as spaces of productive and mutually enriching dialogue that may play a fundamental role in the de-escalation and prevention of conflicts (including the long-term tensions in Northern Ireland).
