Spondyloarthritis in children

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2021

Abstract

Juvenile spondyloarthritis represents a spectrum of chronic inflammatory disease characterized by an asymmetrical peripheral arthritis of lower extremities and presence of enthesitis. Axial involvement is often asymptomatic and less common in pediatric population.

Differentiated forms of juvenile spondyloarthritis include mostly enthesitis-related arthritis and juvenile psoriatic arthritis. Early initiation of targeted therapies is essential to achieve disease inactivity and prevent irreversible damage.
