Abstract

Monograph Ultrasound in otorhinolaryngology summarizes the current state of application of ultrasound technologies in the head and neck. The book should serve as a basic educational text both for preparation for specialization education in relevant fields (otorhinolaryngology, maxillofacial surgery, endocrinology, etc.) and for routine clinical practice.

It is with the aim of practical use that the theory is limited to the minimum necessary to understand the principles of the use of ultrasound in the diagnosis of disease states. The richly illustrated text should facilitate the way to the practical implementation of targeted diagnostics and therapy (FNAB, ultrasound guided surgery, ultrasound focused surgery) and, last but not least, the use of harmonic scalpel, CUSA and acoustic rhinometry.

Experts from a number of otorhinolaryngological clinics of the medical faculties of Charles University (from the Military University Hospital, FN Motol and FNKV) participated in the preparation of the book, as well as from many workplaces in other fields (dermatovenerology, neurosurgery, neurology, endocrinology). The book is intended primarily for otorhinolaryngologists, surgeons and endocrinologists, but it should also be useful for physicians in other fields who come into contact with head and neck pathologies.
