Abstract
The paper examines Rudolf Kubín's operetta Girl from Colony that premiered in Ostrava in 1942. The paper follows operetta's stylistic sources that are linked to the miners' folklore of the industrial region of Ostravsko.
The second part of the paper focuses on the perception, both critical and popular, of the piece and its transformations after the 1948 communist coup d'état.
