Abstract

A casting counter issued by Kryštof Želenský ze Sebuzína was discovered in 2019 during a survey in the location 'K Zámku' in the territory of Městečko u Křivoklátu. It is a rare issue struck probably in the Prague Mint.

The issuer's new coat-of-arms and title of baron in the legend testify to its minting at the earliest after February 1596 when he received the title. Two dates of issue seem likely: 1596 when he was promoted to high nobility or 1600 (or 1601) when he became the supreme moneyer.
