Abstract
An analysis of the novel Karen (2016) by Ana Teresa Pereira, Madeira-based author, reveals a number of intertextual references and film allusions, with which the whole novel is interwoven, and acquaints readers with procedures through which the author takes on the unusual shape and mysterious atmosphere of the work.
