Abstract
The paper presents a historic-semantic analysis of the Old Russian term jabednik and its derivatives. It describes their representation in historical sources, the development of both their morphology and semantics until the present day and revises their etymological interpretation.
It is based on research of sources of a legal and official nature from the East Slavic and North Germanic areas.
