Abstract
The main part of the Lipnice manuscript is the text of the Bible in Latin translation, which was completed by editorial work at the turn of the 4th and 5th centuries and which was subsequently used by all the major theologians of the Western Church in their biblical commentaries. One of the scribes of the Lipnice Bible was aware of this development, and he added two short texts on fol. 14v refers precisely to the tradition of ancient translations of biblical books and their ecclesiastical interpretations.
Although these texts are not captioned, they eloquently state their content in words: "Translators of the Bible" (Translatores biblie) and "Expositors of the Bible" (Expositores biblie). The former appears in the Lipnick Codex in yet another version at fol. 430va with the incipit 'On the various translations of the Bible' (De diversis translationibus biblie).
The chapter translates and describes the texts in question, searches for textual antecedents, and attempts to identify other Bohemian manuscripts that contain the texts.
