Abstract

The book deals with the contact issues concerning endoscopy and surgery from a diagnostic and therapeutic point of view. The motivation was to give an overview of information on the importance of endoscopy in the perioperative period, combined endoscopic-surgical procedures and minimally invasive gastrointestinal interventions on thr digestive tract in terms of indications, techniques and potential benefits for invasiveness reduction and performance targeting.

In addition to interventions for benign diseases, the main topics are the therapy of gastrointestinal tumors and the therapy of postoperative, especially anastomotic complications. Individual chapters include technological issues and systematic overview of possibilities for specific sub-areas of gastrointestinal surgery (gastroscopy, enteroscopy, colonoscopy).

The possibilities of further development of perioperative interventions and technological possibilities of endoscopy and related modalities are also mentioned.
