The article examines the opening passage in the fourth volume of Hubert Fichteʼs "The History of Sensitivity" [Geschichte der Empfindlichkeit], "A Happy Love" [Eine Glückliche Liebe], in a close reading and tries to describe the "Poetics of Interculturality", which was characteristic of Hubert Fichte's late work, and is related to the distinct poetics of the so-called "ethnopoetic trilogy". In doing so, the ethnographic materialism of the trilogy is juxtaposed with an "overflowing" rhetoric in "The History of Sensitivity" which connects everything with everything in order to enable or simply simulate a supposed complete understanding of the world.

Since the texts do not leave materialism behind, however, an "abyss" arises, which deserves greater consideration and more precise presentation in future Fichte research, as this article recommends.
