The study of inequalities and social structure has always been one of the prominent topics in Czech sociology (Machonin, Tuček, Matějů and others). At the same time, it is clear that the attention the field has focused on this issue has been varied, and has not always necessarily been linked to changes in the nature of inequalities in society.
In this paper, I will try to recapitulate the story of approaches to social inequalities in Czech sociology, and then discuss its current key contributions in the context of European sociology, especially cultural approaches to study of inequalities (Bourdieu 1984, Atkinson 2015, Skeggs 2015).
