Abstract

Precedent phenomena from fiction (names, expressions, situations, etc.) are specific linguistic and cognitive units. Their use in political discourse is linked to the fact that they fix certain national and cultural stereotypes.

Politicians refer to various precedent phenomena to evoke a specific reaction or familiar image in the recipient, thereby manipulating the audience. Precedent phenomena based on artistic texts are of special importance in the language of politicians and fulfill several functions: informative, pragmatic (influential), expressive-evaluative and ideological.
