Abstract

Erectile dysfunction is a risk factor predicting cardiovascular disease. Endothelial dysfunction occurs in men with erectile dysfunction before hypertension, dyslipidemia or diabetes mellitus.Men suffering from erectile dysfunction thus become carries of systemic vascular disease.

The patient's age, severity and duration of erectile dysfunction as well as the presence of CVD risk factors should lead physicians to assess the risk of developing ischemic heart disease in the future. The treatment of erectile dysfunction in men with cardiovascular disease follows the principles of the Princeton Consensus and the Guidelines of the European Society of Urology.
