Abstract

As tensions increase in the High North the United States, often called a reluctant Arctic actor, is at a fulcrum as to how it will position its security in Alaska during the 21st century. The aurthor suggests in this article that a permenant detatchment of special operations forces SOF in Alaska to counter a Russian military build-up is a starting point to rebuild a strong US military presence in the region.
