Abstract
The Dresden Bible was an undated manuscript written probably between 1365-1375 by six scribes. This manuscript contained the oldest complete Czech Bible translation made by two groups of translators in the 1350s.
The contribution uses statistical methods to compare the ways of recording the diphthongization ó to uo between the texts copied into the Dresden Bible by the chief scribe. The texts are following: Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Wisdom, Sirach, Luke, John (translated by the first group), Tobit, prophetic books and all epistles from 2 Thessalonians to Hebrews 12:24 (translated by the second group).
We have revealed more progressive ways of recording the diphthongization ó to uo in some texts of the second group of translators.
