Abstrakt
Based on the diaries, correspondence, journalistic contributions and archive documents, the article describes the relationship of the Germanist and literary historian Arnošt Kraus to Judaism throughout his life, when he was confronted with his Jewish origins and the Judaism to varying degrees. Attention is paid to family circumstances, high school and university years, as well as the academic career and the period of the Protectorate.
