The article deals with multivalent dialect words in Carpatho-Rusyn dialects possessing "a barn-door fowl" as a central meaning. These multivalent lexemes are found in Carpatho-Rusyn dialects simultaneously and the motivation of their origin is not always clear.
An attempt to classify the above mentioned multivalent lexical units into polysemes and homonyms is made in this article. The difference in the development of multivalent dialect words in Carpatho-Rusyn dialects on the Slovak and Ukranian areas is also traced in the paper.
