Abstract

The study presents selected results of research focused on professional paths of social pedagogues in the Czech Republic. The aim of the research was to identify how the professional path of social pedagogues is formed and what forms of professional acterism is being developed in practice.

A qualitative approach was used for this purpose, research design was the grounded theory. Also, constructivist and biographic approaches were used.

The research dataset included 20 participants - social pedagogues. The results are presented in the form of a circular paradigmatic model.

The inner cause requirement was the motivation to select a helping profession, which is constitutional for the employment. The professional path is modified by intervening conditions, biographic chances and limitations.

The subjective and objective demands are met in each phase of the professional path by behavioral strategies leading through strengthening or weakening of meaningfulness to a level of satisfaction. The process of taking over or loosing control over one's professional path through the actor's self is going to the forefront and forms a dispositional core of professional acterism.
