Abstract
Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is among the most verified and efficacious biologic modality with quick treatment response in the therapy of life-threatening and severe neuropsychiatric diseases. In a worldwide, fast-paced area of neuromodulation in psychiatry, so called neurostimulation methods, it holds a major place.
With the use of modern modifications and monitoring of treatment parameters with priority regard to functional remission and cognitive functioning of patients, ECT represents an irreplaceable and safe therapeutic method.
