Abstract
The chapter explains the concept of the state's territorial organisation and related concepts (centralisation, decentralisation), the types of states according to the legal establishment of their territorial organisation (unitary state, territorial autonomy, regional state, federation) and their typical, especially constitutional attributes. Furthermore, it deals with the membership of states in international organisations and with the European Union and its character from the point of view of the theory of state
