Abstract

Social support, one of the protective factors of the burnout syndrome, is based on collegial relationships within schools. The aim of the research was to ana- lyze barriers to sharing in Czech schools.

We used case studies (10 schools) and a questionnaire survey in schools (2377 people) and among school psychologists (164 people). Formalized techniques of sharing professional experience are not yet firmly established in Czech schools, but interest is growing among teachers.

Schools that have successfully implemented them perceive barriers as smaller and benefits as greater. That can enhance professionalisation of the teaching community and improve collaboration within schools.
