Concert in the Cathedral of Our Lady before Týn on the occasion of the consecration of the restored Marian Column in Old Town Square in Prague

Abstract

A ceremony of national significance for the blessing of the restored column took place on 15 August 2021 on the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the Church of Our Lady before Týn. The day of the pilgrimage festival of the Týn Cathedral in Prague's Old Town Square on 15 August 2021 also marked the one-year anniversary of the blessing of the rebuilt Marian column.

Archbishop of Prague, Cardinal Dominik Duka, presided over the solemn Mass, with musical accompaniment provided by the Notre Dame Choir and its orchestra with Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria. The choir also provided other liturgical chants.

Leona Stříteská was the director. The choir was accompanied by external soloists and our leading organist, the current director of the Prague Conservatory, Petr Čech.
