Following up on the previous extensive surface surveys in the valleys and steppe of the Kugitang Mountains Piedmont in 2016 and 2017, the Czech -Uzbek archaeological expedition conducted small -scale trial excavations at the site of Iskandar Tepa, which had been identified as a small rural Greco-Bactrian settlement. The main aim of the project was to confirm the dating and to reveal its possible function in the fortification system of the period in the Bactro -Sogdian borderlands.

This report offers basic information on the field work and its results in the 2018 season.
