Development of reading preliteracy in the practice of kindergarten

Abstract

The publication provides readers with an insight into the topic of reading literacy - provides basic information about the content of the concept with emphasis on the integrative model of reading literacy, defines the components of reading literacy and pre-literacy, captures its development in the basic curricular document - Framework Educational Programme for Preschool Education. The publication includes a proposal for the systematic development of reading literacy in kindergarten and specific ideas on how to work with a book in kindergarten, how to read to children, how to develop active listening or encourage children's interest in writing, where to look for inspiration for quality lessons and which campaigns and projects can be used to promote reading in children.

Examples of specific lessons are framed by a constructivist approach to learning and a three-phase learning model, emphasizing the importance of asking appropriate questions about the text and demonstrating how to develop reading strategies in children to promote comprehension of the text.
