Abstrakt
The contribution deals with the picture of the Holy Land in the Jewish prayers for a non-Jewish land and its representatives which has been part of the synagogue service since the Middle Ages. It focuses on the seeming paradox between the pleas for a foreign country and pleas for the Jewish homeland.
It depicts the attitude towards the Holy Land in the preserved liturgical texts as well as in their translations.
