Abstract

The monograph Eye Infection provides a comprehensive overview of eye infections and deals with both causal pathogens and diagnosis, as well as treatment. The general section provides a quick overview of diagnostic methods, preventive measures and therapeutic options.

There is also a section devoted to immunology, microbiology and pharmacology for a comprehensive view. The special section - Eye Tissue Infections - then describes in detail the infections according to the individual periocular and ocular sections.

This section is divided into periocular infections and infections of the orbit and lacrimal ducts, infections of the conjunctiva, cornea, sclera and episclerus, anterior and posterior uvea and optic nerve. The last chapter deals with endophthalmitis, a deep infection of the whole eye.

For each chapter, we find a detailed description of ocular pathology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis options, therapy and possibly prognosis and prevention directly for the unit. The book is designed so that it can be used in everyday work in the outpatient clinic and hospitals, but it will also serve other physicians in the fields involved.
