Perspectives of V4 Translation Studies : Studies, considerations and contributions on translation between Czech, Hungarian,Polish and Slovakian languages
Abstrakt
Within the project Perspectives in V4 Translation Studies we have realized two events with experts and involving students over the past two years: a student workshop, also having teachers as participants, in November 2019, and an on-line event that consisted of an expert conference along a student workshop in November 2020. This e-publication offers a collection of all the lectures and contributions from these two project events in Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Slovakian and English languages, representing the character of both events and particularly stressing the intertwining of cultures and languages in the region.
The first part contains lectures and contributions by teachers whereas the second part contributions by students.The first part provides an overview of the teachers with their profile of expertise, also making visible the multidisciplinary character of their research in translatology. Among the students' contributions the readers may find studies or chapters from their degree papers, but mostly excerpts from translations they are working on.
In fact, the contributions often involved topics related to the challenges of translation, e.g., the difficulties in finding the appropriate phrases, which inspired thoughtful discussions during both events. Benefitting from on-line publication, we integrated video records as well as multimedia presentations.
Furthermore, reflecting on the variety of styles of presentations, we opted for an academically less strictly formulated editorial framework, enabling the representation of the participants' authentic personal input.
