Abstract
The paper introduces the new PorTex diagnostic battery developed to assess the level of literacy skills of primary school pupils. It is intended for school psychologists, special education teachers, and specialists in pedagogical-psychological counselling and special pedagogical centres.
Although its focus is on assessing comprehension of texts in three modes: listening comprehension and oral and silent reading comprehension, it provides support for monitoring all influences that may affect literacy skills - language prerequisites, decoding skills, reader's self-concept and environmental factors.
