A chapter in a collective monograph presents an overview of the existing research focused on the history of Scandinavian/Nordic universities (including student bodies) and non-university research institutions during the World War II in context of university history and history of sciences during the World War II in general. The author analyses basic works and prevailing narratives of university history in different Nordic countries linked to general history in given countries during the war (i. e. neutral Sweden; German-oriented Finland at war; Denmark and Norway under Nazi occupation; Iceland's way to full independence under American military presence).
