The article brings a comprehensive study of the Palermo Stone, an important royal annals dated to the Old Kingdom. Its focus has been put not only on the evaluation of the royal ideology of the time, but also the history of its acquisition and a new reading of the hieroglyphic texts engraved on it which has been obtained by utilizing the most up-to-date technologies in the field of digital humanities, primarily the "Reflectance Transformation Imaging" (RTI)
