Abstract
The study is devoted to a revision of the state and geographical and chronological determination of a pair of early medieval coins found during an archaeological excavation in Husova Street in the Old Town of Prague (house no. 240/I) in 1992. In contrast to the original determination, elemental analysis confirmed that both coins were period fakes, coated with tin in the first case (MMP inv. no.
A 209 350/1), and probably with silver in the second one (MMP inv. no. A 209 350/2).
The first mentioned coin tries to imitate the appearance of Bavarian deniers of Henry II (955-976) which were struck in the mints of Regensburg and Nabburg, probably between 967 and 973; the poor state of preservation of the second coin does not enable a more exact determination.
