Parliamentary elections in Iraq: larger changes are not expected

Abstract

Parliamentary elections took place in Iraq on the 10th October. Low participation (41 %) in the elections demonstrates distrust of people in the present Iraqi political parties and the system of elections.

Lowering of the influence of Iran on the Iraqi political scene is not foreseen.
