Drought can be analysed by various methods. Meteorological drought based on dry spell durations and occurrence is studied in this paper.
We have focused on different precipitation thresholds and various duration of dry periods. Two methods for drought analysis were selected - continuous series of days with daily precipitation totals not exceeding a given threshold (FLT method) and continuous series of days with cumulative precipitation average not exceeding a given threshold (FLN method).
Long-term analysis were carried out for the threshold of 1 mm and duration of 12 and more days for the FLT method and for the threshold of 0.4 mm and duration of 18 and more days for the FLN method. A small increase of drought duration can be observed since 2002 based on 30-year moving average.
