Abstract
The chapter Melanesia in a Network of Global Connections analyzes the impact of global processes on local communities in Papua New Guinea. The inhabitants of the region were pursued to exchange their beliefs for Christianity, local valuables for the market cash, acephalic political organization for democracy.
