Mind and culture: both sides of one coin

Abstract

In this chapter, the cognitive approach to language is interpreted as closely connected with the cultural approach. With some examples, several topics of this approach are dealt with, i. e. stereotype and connotations.

Cultural keywords (key concepts) are then discussed, with an emphasis on the Czech cultural keywords DOMOV ('home', 'homeland') and POHODA ('well-being').
