The chapter presents a comparison of initial professional studies of teachers in pre-primary and primary education in six countries of the European Union - the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Portugal, Slovakia and Slovenia. It highlights the similarities and differences in the structure and interrelationships of the professional training of teachers at both levels of schooling.
It summarises current challenges and points to the direction of further development of teacher training at both levels of education.
